Penge Recreation Ground
The summer holiday beach event had been a success despite the bad weather and we would support a repeat of the event next year hopefully at the beginning of the summer break and, building on the success, we will organise other activities as well as the sandpit. We are pleased to announce the newly elected Friends of Penge Recreational Ground officers as: Shaffeena Zaied (Chair) and Jo Marlow (Vice Chair). They already form the officers of the Friends of Royston Field.
Alexandra Recreation Park
Its good the see the park being used for local football activities during the weekend but there has been some impact on other park users. The council have asked the sports manager to make some adjustments to the size of the larger pitches and relocate the goalposts so that access to the swing park and footpath are not impinged. The council will continue to monitor the events.
Crystal Palace Park
Proposed Governance of Crystal Palace Park
Louisa Allen of Bromley Council gave a briefing on the future Trust, (not for profit organisation), which is being considered to take plans for the redevelopment of the park forward.
She advised that there will be structured meetings involving all stakeholders, community, site management, Heritage, and Borough Councils. This was seen as a positive step to ensuring Crystal Palace can be brought back up to the standard it had been many years ago.
