Temporary Repair for Penge War Memorial

The Penge War Memorial opposite St John’s Church will host the annual Remembrance service as usual on Sunday 13th November.

Sadly, some of the names of those who we shall be remembering will not be present on the memorial as two of the plaques have been attacked by metal thieves.  The council have put 2 temporary replacement plaques in place for Sunday’s ceremony.   We are still discussing with the council the form of the permanent replacements, asking them to find a way of replacing them with plaques of the same quality.

Labour councillors will be laying wreaths at services in the Penge ward.   As well asSt John’s, a wreath is laid every year at he memorial inHolyTrinityChurch,Lennard Road.
