Girls’ Empowerment course in Anerley

Crystal Palace FC Foundation’s Breaking Barriers project is running a Girls’ Empowerment Programme, which is funded by Affinity Sutton. The programme is aimed at girls age 16+ who would like to take part in sports and leisure activities supported by workshops around drug awareness, healthy eating, female role models and empowering women.

The programme of meetings started on Tuesday 17th January.  To start, they are being held at AnerleyTown Hall on Anerley Road, between 5 and 7 pm.    Participants themselves will come up with ideas and suggestions which will then be used to create a weekly activity schedule.  The programme is up to 12 weeks and at the end of the programme the participants will receive an award and be offered volunteering/ training or employment opportunities.

  1. Gill Gray says:

I have received an LD Focus asking for ideas to try to win a share of Bromley council’s £250,000 fund to improve Anerley Rd parade near Town Hall and Anerley Hill parade near Tesco. (Also Church Rd shopping parade but think that is out of area?). I would like to know if Labour is doing something similar? These parades definitely need improvement but why are LD leading on this and not Labour?

    • This is a Bromley Council initiative, Gill and for now, or at least until the next election, the Lib Dems are the local councillors for the Crystal Palace ward. It is their duty to canvas opinions and submit them to the council. So, for now, the Labour Party in Crystal Palace, can have no part in this. We are doing the same, though, for the Penge & Cator ward where we have 3 Labour Party representatives. I will, though, make sure our Crystal Palace colleagues are aware of your comments. Thank you for contacting us.
