Recent Penge Planning Applications

Work continues on the new Tesco Express

The new shop front for the Tesco Express store, opposite Watermen’s Square, is said to be more sympathetic to the surroundings than the previous one.   There are proposing bollards to protect the area in front of the shop from casual parking.   This will also increase their security.   They are also intending to install a cash point.   A number of people have told us they will appreciate a new bank cash point at this end of the High Street.  The shop itself will be open from 6 am – 11 pm.

Fashion House is downsizing from their 3-unit shop.   There is an application for a new shop front for the unit closest to the traffic lights.  This indicates that the new shop will be a Pawn Broker.   It’s disappointing that the High Street is now filling up with similar ventures.   It’s better than having empty units but we would hope for more variety in future.

Games Master is also applying for a new shop front.  The current one is getting a bit tatty but the new sign will also incorporate a name change to “PC and Games Master”.  This reflects the widening range of the shop’s activity and also confirms their commitment to the area.
