Palace and Penge WI meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, 12th June at Anerley Town Hall. Details here

Claire McDonald, Vice-President, has sent us this.  Any organisation that supports activities in Penge and Crystal Palace is welcomed by us.

Palace and Penge WI, is the newest Women’s Institute in the South East of London. Running for only a few months, already we have had activity filled sessions, making cake pops, decorating t-shirts and designing mugs and at our last meeting we learnt all about bees.

Meeting at Anerley Town Hall on the 1st Tuesday of each month, newcomers are always welcome; and the welcome always includes cake, a cup of tea and maybe a glass of wine.

The Women’s Institute was formed in 1915, its aim to revitalise rural communities and while we don’t claim to be revitalising Crystal Palace and Penge, we are all passionate about where we live and aim to make a positive difference to it – be that one cup cake at a time! And we are not alone; the WI is now the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK, playing a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.

If this sounds interesting, then new members who want to join us can not come along to our next meeting. To find out more email or visit our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter…you see it’s not all Jam and Jerusalem.

Worth adding that as the 1st Tuesday of next month falls on the Jubilee weekend we are holding July’s meeting on the 2nd Tuesday instead.
