Good and bad news for local parks

Kathy Bance represents us at Friends of Penge Parks meetings.

This week’s meeting had some disappointing news for Penge Rec.   The bid for money for the “Beach” sandpit, which was very popular last year, was not successful so will probably not go ahead unless alternative funding can be found.   .

The wiring for the new lights in the rec is being installed now and we are waiting for the contractors to make the final connections.

Better news forBettsPark.

It was confirmed that an adult outdoor gym, as previewed at Penge Festival, would be installed in the next 10 weeks or so.   The money is coming from the Public Health budget.

The equipment will include:

Pull Ups / Assisted Pull Ups
Senior Recumbent Bike / Hand Bike
Oblique / Leg Press
Senior Cross Trainer / Triple Step Up
Dynamic Chest Press / Seated Row
Fitness Bike
Railway Seat

We are still awaiting news of the bid for table tennis tables in Betts Park.

Hopefully this will encourage a new Friends group for Betts Park.  If anyone is interested please let us know and we will put you in contact with the appropriate person.
