Full Council Meeting Update

It was good to see the public gallery full to capacity on Monday evening for two petitions that were being presented to the meeting.  We supported staff in their attempts to stop Bromley Tories from pulling out of national terms and conditions. We argued that there were already existing means of rewarding staff who go beyond the call of duty.  We also told the Council Leader; Stephen Carr that his promises of extra money for staff were unfunded.  A vote amongst staff whilst of course not binding would give an indication of how they were feeling on the issue.  As ever, we were outvoted and the Lib Dems sat on their hands on this issue.  We also supported Scope in their bid to look again at the proposal to take away their collecting bins for textiles on council land and called for the scrutiny committee to consider this matter again.  Our pleas were rejected but Councillor Colin Smith (Environment Portfolio Holder) has agreed to meet with Scope to try and resolve the issues even though the bins now been removed.
