3 Days to go – More details of Olympic Torch relay through Penge

The relay is now expected to enter Penge at around 10.15.   We’re told that the full procession takes about 20 minutes to pass any individual spot but the relay is expected to pass under the railway bridges at the top of the High Street by around 10.25.

Our local traders have gone to a lot of effort to dress sup the main part of the High Street and to lay on entertainment.  This will include:

  • HerbertJusticeAcademy will be dancing in Empire Square
  • A Brazilian Marimba Band will be playing by MacDonald’s
  • Face painting and balloon modelling for children.
  • At the Bridge House pub the procession will be greeted by local group “Six to Start” plus coffee and refreshments.

Let’s try to fill the High Street to welcome the torch and to show our support for Penge.

And to enter into the spirit of the occasion you can still buy the local Olympic Pin Badge from Libraries and Press Gang by the Crooked Billet will print you the almost unique Penge Town Sign t-shirt.
