I,ve never seen such big crowds in Penge.Were there many locals carrying the Torch or was this out of your hands (So to Speak) ?

There was a great atmosphere in the town, Barry. Just shows what we can do when we all pull together. They did not specify who would be carrying the torch when. A couple of Bromley / BVeckenham people were on the list for today but no-one form Penge.

It was another great day in Penge today the spirit of the people of Penge was like I have never seen it befor, everybody came out to line the high street to see the Olympic Torch pass through on its way to Crystal Palace Park. As the Torch came up the road we were treated to smoke on the water played by the Twang guitar shop IT WAS ROCKING as the other busses all big corporations with men & women waving & dancing on top, I over heard one bloke next to me say “can you belive it they are cheering the police”, which made me lough out loud as Rain had said to me earlyer can i boo the police mum? I said no not to day lets keep the vibe nice. there was a lot of time & build up before the torch came & went as quick as that, carrid by some grey haired bloke i was told his name was Keith. Any way, we was on, playing our set under the metal mushroom to the whole of Penge High Street what a treat playing to young & old one & all, lots left but there was a lot of people still there that seemed to be enjoying it & the video is good dispite the guitar sound cutting out depending on where you postion the video camera.
The Croocked Billett was coverd with bunnting with real fire torches, we had a crew sitting outside the pub enjoying the show. It was so good to be part of Penges big moment, some guy asked me whats all this about i said Olympic torch & he wallked off not interested, but i said to him “Any exscuse for a party” It was a real once in a life time for us all to come to gether happy & united as South Londoners.
Big Up to our TEAM GB bring home the Gold
