44 to 45 Green Lane has been given planning consent for a mixed use development of 2 commercial units and 8 flats with 8 parking spaces. A previous scheme for 9 flats was refused at appeal after we opposed it. We felt that there was room for a further reduction in the number of flats on Thursday when the item went to the Planning Sub committee but other council members disagreed with us.
Concerns were raised by local residents about overdevelopment and loss of privacy. However, the previous appeal judgment had said that the development would be acceptable with greater separation between the new build and the houses in Cottingham Road. The revised plans would give greater separation, so the committee felt it had to give permission.
