Permission sought for new church in Oakfield Road

A proposal for the new church and meeting hall with 44 parking spaces and a new vehicle access from Cambridge Rd will go to a meeting of the Plans 3 Sub Committee on Thursday 27th September at 7-00pm.

This application is very similar to the previously proposal (2003) which was allowed on appeal.   With that background, the planners are recommending permission.   We would prefer the site to be brought back into use for employment.   We are also concerned that despite the 44 parking spaces, there will be considerable parking overspill into neighbouring roads.

Full details of the application can e found here:

    Hi there,

I was wondering whether there was supposed to be consultation with the public/ people living on this street about this development as this is the first I have heard about this.

    Regards

    • There is / was a sign on the site but that’s about as far as public consultation goes in Bromley. I understand there have been some responses. THe Planners report, however, will be on technical / legal grounds taking into account Bromley’s planning policies. It will then be up to the Planning Committee to make the decision. The difficulty will be that if the committee did refuse, the applicants would be likely to win on appeal, as they did last time. In this case, that is likely to mean costs against the coumncil. However, one resident is allowed to speak to the committee for 3 minutes with their objections. If you wanted to do that you would have to first of all submit an objection through the on line system immediately. That would then allow you to speak to the committee. You then have to indicate that you want to speak by 10 a.m. on the working day before the meeting (i.e. Wednesday 26th September) at the latests. We have Cllr Fookes on this committee who will represent local views.
