Travellers in New Beckenham Station Car Park have said they will leave on Monday

We have known about the travellers since Thursday.  It is one family who have been moved out of Merton and are looking for another site.   The Police and the Council have been in touch with them.   The travellers have said they will be moving on on Monday.   If they do not, the police will have to start legal proceedings which can be painfully slow, as we learned when travellers occupied the Kings Hall Road sports ground.

We have told the council that the travellers’ access to the site was eased because the council had removed the height barrier at the entrance to the car park, to enable lorries to enter for some maintenance work.  Unfortunately, this finished last May and despite the council having been advised, the barrier was not put back.
