Assault in Cator Park – message from local police team

On Thursday 11th October 2012 at approx 2.10pm a female was sexually assaulted in Cator Park near the alleyway that leads into Kings Hall Road, Beckenham. Her attacker is described as a white male aged 18-25 slim build with short spikey dark coloured hair. At some stage the suspect was partially clothed. We know he made off along the Pool River path towards Kangley Bridge Road and then turned into Cricket Lane and onto Kent House Lane towards Sydenham. The victim was left unharmed but was obviously very upset.

It is possible that the same male may be responsible for a number of previous incidents in the same area, where he is known to expose himself to lone females.

It goes without saying that this male needs to be arrested asap.

It appears that the suspect frequents areas where there are allotments and business premises.

Please , if anyone sees anyone acting suspiciously, call 101 ( or 999 in an emergency ) and we will check it out . Better to report it if you think it is odd behaviour, your call may prevent a serious crime taking place.

For personal security advice , there are a host of websites that offer practical advice, some are listed below.

If you are , or have been , a victim of indecent exposure – this is a crime that police will investigate.

Penge& Cator Safer Neighbourhood Team are teaming up with neighbouring wards and boroughs to provide more visible patrols in the area.

Staff have been informed at Harris Academy and personal safety talks to the students are being arranged.

Thanks for reading.
