Penge Post Office smarten up – no more pigeons.

Ever since our dedicated Post Office closed there have been complaints about the service in the replacement.    These have often been about the length of time it took to be served.  Recently, these have reduced and it seems that except at the busiest of times, waiting times are now shorter.    Other complaints have been about the state of the shop and that too has changed recently.   The street displays have now gone.

However,  the premises themselves are still not really what we would expect from the Post office.   We have been asking the Post Office to improve the building.  Recently, Cllr Kathy Bance heard through our High Street Manager that the building is due to be painted and improved this Spring.  In particular, we have asked for pigeon spikes to be attached to the building parapet so that anyone waiting near the shop front is no longer liable to be showered by the pigeons roosting above.   Not before time.
