High Street “explosion” was industrial strength firework. Arrests have been made

Emergency services were called to the rear of 137 High Street SE20 Saturday evening after reports of an explosion.   The incident was in the alleyway at the back of the shops, leading off Southey Street.

Police established that a large “pyrotechnic device” had been deliberately set off , causing damage to a car, the brewery building at 20 Southey Street ( smashed windows ) and the roof to the Halifax.   The Fire Brigade had to put out a fire on the roof of the Halifax building.  There were no injuries.

As a result of rapid police investigation by Bromley CID and Penge SNT , three arrests have been made in connection with this incident.   Well done ot them for the prompt outcome.
