Fire in Kangley Bridge industrial estate

News from Bromley Council:

Early yesterday morning, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) requested the council’s  assistance in connection with a fire in Kangley Bridge Road, on a former industrial site, which is currently vacant. The LFB had been tackling the fire since 9 p.m. Monday ngiht, where unidentified waste was on fire, with predictable, large plumes of smoke in the locality. The council supplied a JCB to help tackle the fire and have had a member of staff at the scene, acting as the Council’s link to the emergency services.

The site of the fire is an abandoned factory that formerly manufactured printer ribbons, with large amounts of chemicals left on site. The site was subsequently secured and the chemicals in situ at the time were removed.  It is our understanding that the site is currently for sale, marketed for redevelopment’   As soon as the LFB leave the site, the council’s contractor will make the site secure again to hopefully prevent further problems.
