World War 1 Memorial

Bromley Council has agreed to replace the two damaged/stolen plaques on the Penge & Cator WW1 memorial in time for the 100 year commemoration.  They will match the existing two in cast bronze and will be fully funded.  Your councillors have continued to press for the replacements and look forward to seeing the memorial restored to its former glory.

We are also very pleased to report that the project to add the names of the service personnel and civilians who died in WW2 will be added to plaques around the WW1 memorial.  Bromley Council’s portfolio holder for Recreation and Renewal thought our project had exceptional merit and agreed to meet any shortfall in fundraising so that the plaques could be in place for the WW1 centenary.   Penge Partners and Penge Forum have agreed to keep fundraising in order to keep the cost to the council as low as possible.

Special thanks to our local historian Chris Doran who has worked hard to compile the names.
