Royal Mail & The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

Christmas is fast approaching,  and cards are being posted through doors from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655. For more information, see the Crime Stoppers website:
http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/crime-prevention/helping-prevent-crime/scams/postal-delivery-scam

Please be aware that the premium rate number may change but nevertheless please do not call any number stated on a card from PDS.

    This is a very old hoax. PDS were closed down in 2005. Action Fraud (The National Police Fraud & Cyber Crime Reporting Centre) ask people not to forward or repeat the hoax.

    • Hello Bill

      I have just been given access to view comments since Cllr Getgood was in this post.
      I will feed this information back to LLB who asked us to circulate the information.
      We may not always get things right but we are trying. We had not heard of this before so passed the information on.

    Dear councillors – Didn’t you try the link in the message before you posted this? It takes you to a paragraph that says the email is a hoax. I can’t believe that any phone provider would allow customers to be charged the huge amounts these hoaxes always claim anyway – what justification would there be?

    @Mike Johnstone
    Apart from thee and me, I doubt that anybody actually reads this ‘blog’. Fairly obvious the Penge and Cator Councillors do not.
