Saving Anerley’s most historic building – Please complete the survey before 27 January 2015

PLEASE FILL IN THE SURVEY FROM OUR CRYSTAL PALACE COUNCILLORS ABOUT THE FUTURE OF ANERLEY TOWN HALL (IT WILL ONLY TAKE A MOMENT!).  THE SURVEY CAN BE ACCESSED VIA www.crystalpalacelabour@wordpress.com
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ANSWERS BY MONDAY 27 JANUARY.

BACKGROUND ON ANERLEY TOWN HALL

Anerley Town Hall is the most historic landmark building in Anerely; it houses a business centre, is the venue for a vast number of local community activities, has a fabulous concert hall and also includes the large area formerly occupied by the library.

Evidence of subsidence appeared in 2008, and was reported then to the Council, who did nothing to address the problem until last summer when they called in a surveyor. No doubt the repair bill is higher now than it would have been six years ago, but we shouldn’t have to lose our town hall because the council has neglected it.

Your Labour councillors believe that the existing business centre can be developed by Crystal Palace Development Trust into a thriving resource. We believe too that there is potential to do much more work to support new businesses and social enterprise and that our Town Hall would be the perfect venue. Funding for such an initiative could be found from other organisations – just look at what Boroughs such as Camden and Lambeth have done on economic regeneration and ask why we can’t have something similar here!
