Bromley To Sell Off Part of Civic Centre Site

Bromley Tories are looking at selling off parts of the Civic Centre site in Rochester Avenue for residential development.  They claim that there would be savings of £800,000 pa in running costs.  Interestingly, they have left council buildings on the site (which is actually part of a public park} empty for at least two years.  These buildings could well have been used on a temporary basis to house the growing numbers of homeless people and sofa surfers in the borough or by charities/community groups.  There is a definite need in the borough for a night shelter.
