Harris Academy Primary, Beckenham – Approved at Development Control Committee Last Night

The previous decision of the Development Control Committee was upheld as LBB when councilors unanimously approved the plans for the proposed development of the new primary school.

The issues which brought this application back for re-determination were:

  • The educational needs for the building of the primary school were not considered to have been established.
  • The parking/traffic/safety issues had not been given proper consideration.
  • Maintaining the Conservation Area
  • Misdirection of the Planning Officer.

After presentations from the Objectors and the Agent in Agreement.  There was a report from the Education portfolio holder and then a review of the facts surrounding the 4 issues above by the Ward Councillor.  The committee then agreed the Planning Application REF. 15/00909.

We now look forward to work starting as soon as possible on the building and are pleased that parents will have more choice when deciding on their children’s education.
