Update – Market Testing of Education Services

At last night’s Education Policy, Development and Scrutiny Committee it was agreed that Officers recommend to the Executive at the meeting on 2 December 2015 that the tender be discontinued as the bids do not provide sufficient benefit to the Council.

The Council’s Executive agreed to commence a market testing exercise for the future delivery of Education Services in July 2014. This market testing exercise took the form of a Competitive Dialogue tender and it was hoped this could provide a quality service at less cost to LBB.

This will please many of our residents who were worried about the outsourcing of SEN.

However, if the current tender is discontinued an appraisal will be carried out to establish whether there are other options for the delivery of individual and/or groups of service, for example shared services with other local authorities, social enterprise/ mutual options etc.
