Your local councillors have worked tirelessly and with other organisations, to see improvements in Penge and this year we are seeing the benefits of that work as major plans are in place for a well deserved facelift for Penge.
Landscape Architects, Justinien and Florence from Kinnear, appointed as designers in the New Homes Bonus regeneration of Penge used the Christmas lights event to promote their community engagement programme for their Stage 1 design work.
We have seen an upward trend in the shops opening in Penge and this looks to continue. Shopping locally is the way to ensure they are here to stay. We fully support the great work our Penge Traders group do.
The Blenheim Centre is up for sale and this offers an opportunity for regeneration of that area of our town. This looks to be a very promising project and we are working with Virgil Rapper LBB’s Town Centre Project Planner to ensure our concerns for the area are addressed.
LBB have listened to us and supported many of the improvement projects we have put to them. Recently they have agreed to fund the refurbishment of Holy Trinity’s WW1 Memorial at a cost of approx. £3-5k. They had already helped to finance the WW2 plaques at our request.
This year also sees the start of the promised TfL LIP traffic management review aimed to reduce the killed and seriously injured in our ward. We have campaigned for 5 years to secure the funding to make this happen. There are also additional plans to reduce the traffic jams on our High Street.
Waste and Recycling and parking are still issues that blight our High Street and we will continue to work with residents and LBB to improve these services.
