As promised latest information on the gas repairs:
Southern Gas Networks (SGN) have made a temporary repair on the broken gas main at Penge Lane. The readings are down and the area is safe for over the Christmas Period. SGN will be attending site twice a day over Christmas to ensure that gas readings are still at a suitable level. This means that there will be no noisy works over Christmas giving the local residents a break from the noise. The gas board will resume their works next week to make this a permanent repair. Works are expected to be completed towards the end of mid-January, leaving the last week of January to permanently reinstate Penge Lane. The gas works have been authorised up until Friday 29/01/2016 and we are optimistic that this will be the road closure will not exceed this date.
