Incident on the Groves Estate

Message from Sgt Rob Goodwin

Around 4.20pm yesterday, there was an incident in the Groves Estate in which two teenage boys were assaulted. The incident is believed to have started around the base of Essex Tower, where reportedly a group of men surrounded and attacked the first teenager.

Some of these assailants are then believed to have left the Essex Tower area in a car, possibly more than one (car). As these cars (one was a black Ford Focus) drove at speed down Gladstone Mews, another teenage boy was struck by a car and run over. The car did not stop. There are also reports of a second car also trying to strike the second victim in Gladstone Mews. One of the cars involved, the Black Ford Focus, was found abandoned in Mosslea Road very shortly afterwards. Both victims were treated for non-life threatening or changing injuries.  It is possible that both incidents are linked. Bromley CID will be investigating. Penge & Cator  SNT PCSO’s were first on scene and also found the abandoned car in Mosslea Road, which was called in by an alert local resident. Many local residents were out on the streets and may have witnessed what happened.

If so, they can contact my team initially, on 0208 649 3541 (if not answered, leave a message).
