Proposal – Eden Park High School

Since plans for a new school in Balmoral Avenue was deferred at planning committee we have received many e-mails asking for our support for the temporary school at Ravensbourne School to open in 2017 and the permanent school in Balmoral Avenue to open in 2018.

We are acutely aware of the need for additional secondary school places in Bromley and do support both proposals.

However, Cllr Colin Smith is emailing residents that Balmoral Avenue is not suitable and the school should be sited permanently on the Kentwood Site in Penge.

We would not object to a secondary school in Penge however Kentwood is a small site with a primary school and adult education facilities.  We do not want to lose the playing field and we would not want to see a high rise building on the site.

Last week we attended a meeting on School Data and asked about plans for the Kentwood site and the Portfolio holder for Education advised that there is no support or plans to use Kentwood for a secondary school.

We will keep you informed as things develop.
