Update on Gas Leaks, High Street, Penge

A further update on the gas escapes at Penge High Street from Ben Howard

Four repairs have now been completed at this junction (two on either side of Croydon Road junction). The two leaks that were repaired yesterday were backfilled today (Friday 03/02/2017), the other two repairs were still being fixed throughout today, therefore will not be backfilled until tomorrow (Saturday 04/02/2017). Once these two further repairs have been backfilled, then all excavations will be concreted and tarmacked. There will be different teams coming to site over the next two days to complete the different stages of reinstatement (backfill, concrete, tarmac) and SGN need to allow the concrete to cure before tarmacking the road, therefore there may be periods in between each reinstatement phase where there is a lack of site presence.

Once all four repairs are fully reinstated, SGN will then be moving to the opposite side of the road with their traffic management to repair the additional leaks on the other side of the junction.  Thus is expected that this will happen late on Sunday 05/02 or early on Monday 06/02, depending on how quickly the concrete takes to cure.

We are expecting a further update regarding these works on Monday 06/02/2017.
