Congratulations To Ellie Reeves MP

Congratulations to Ellie Reeves (pictured below) on her astonishing victory in Lewisham West and Penge and thank you to those of you who voted for her. We look forward to working with her. Ellie secured 35411 votes to 12249 for Shaun Bailey for the Tories. The Lib Dems got 3317 votes with the Greens on 1144.UKIP polled exactly 700, the Christian People’s Alliance 325 and the Populist Party received 50 votes. The turnout was 73%. Elsewhere in the borough, Marina Ahmad saw her vote rise 10 points to 30% in Beckenham and Sara Hyde reduced the Tory majority to less than 10,000 in Bromley and Chislehurst. Nigel De Gruchy secured second place for Labour in Orpington in a very encouraging night for Labour in Bromley borough.

    This is all excellent news, especially Ellie’s terrific majority. We now need to start planning for the local elections!

    Many congratulations to Ellie. I wonder if the strengthening of the labour vote will lead to the Penge & Cator ward becoming part of Lewisham, rather than Bromley. It’s always felt odd.
