Yet Another Gas Leak Penge

Penge faces yet more traffic congestion :

Message from Ben Howard,Traffic Manager, LBB

Southern Gas Networks (SGN) have contacted me this morning regarding another gas escape, this time on Croydon Road, Penge.

SGN have a suspected leak on a 24 inch gas main and will be working under temporary two way signals, close to the junction with Melvin Road. SGN will be manually operating lights during peak times to minimise delays as much as possible. Works are currently expected to be in place for up to one week.

Temporary Changes to Bus Routes

This message is mostly for Beckenham but also covers the 227 bus route.

Message from TfL

As a result of work on the road network it is sometimes necessary to make changes to our services.

From Saturday 11 March until Summer 2018 bus routes in Beckenham town centre will be diverted and / or have revised schedules to allow for traffic delays. This is due to a programme of one-way road closures of Beckenham High Street by London Borough of Bromley for improvement works.

The works will take place in phases between February 2017 and approximately August 2018, with the changes to buses taking place over three phases.

First phase – Saturday 11 March 2017 to mid August 2017
Beckenham High Street will be closed southbound between Albemarle Road and Manor Road.

Routes 54 towards Elmers End and 354 towards Penge will be diverted via Rectory Road. Route 162 towards Eltham will be diverted via Albemarle Road and St George’s Road. Routes 227 towards Crystal Palace, 367 towards West Croydon and N3 towards Oxford Circus will be diverted via Manor Road.

We are providing temporary bus stops in Rectory Road and St George’s Road for routes 54, 354 and 162. We have not been able to find a safe, suitable location for a temporary bus stop in Manor Road for routes 227, 367 and N3 but they will stop further along High Street as normal.

There will be no diversion to any route in the other direction, although bus stop C in High Street may be temporarily relocated a short distance.

We are also slightly adjusting how often buses run on routes 54, 162, 194, 227, 352, 354, 358 and 367. This is so we can maintain their reliability during the extended journey times caused by the likely traffic delays.

For more details on the Beckenham High Street works please visit https://www.bromley.gov.uk/beckenhamimprovements .

For more information about the bus changes, please visit http://www.tfl.gov.uk/BusChanges . Details of further phases will be added that web page when details are confirmed.

We appreciate your patience while these improvement works take place.
