Delays on Penge High Street roadworks

The repair work in Penge High Street by the Thames Water is continuing but time will be needed to install a new connection, repair the sewer and build a new manhole.  Materials in the sewer, which had reduced capacity over time, will need to be cleared too.  The estimated length of repair is therefore regrettably 4 weeks.

Traffic management in the area is being improved, with advance warning signs being installed.  Also, to facilitate deliveries for the local businesses, an ‘access only’ sign for Cottingham Road is being installed to try and make the situation clearer for delivery drivers.     

On a positive note, the void does not extend across the road and whilst the traffic diversions remain, it is not envisaged that any further closures, to the other side of the road, are needed.
